Your writing is yours. Nobody else sees it.

Mentid has no accounts, no servers, no analytics, no cookies for tracking, no third-party scripts beyond a font provider. Everything you write lives on the device you wrote it on. This page exists to make that fact concrete.

What data Mentid collects about you

None. There is no signup. There is no login. There is no profile. Mentid has no backend — there is nowhere for your data to go. Every entry, decision, nightly close, ledger item, and vocabulary word you produce is stored in a private database inside your browser, on your device, and leaves your device only if you choose to export it.

Where your data actually lives

• IndexedDB on this device — the browser's own private storage. Each browser you use has its own separate database. Chrome on your phone and Chrome on your laptop do not share it.
• Optional: a folder you picked — if you enabled auto-backup in Your data, Mentid writes a JSON copy to a folder you chose on your own device. If that folder is inside iCloud / OneDrive / Dropbox / Google Drive, it will sync to your account there — but that is your cloud, not ours.
• Nowhere else.

What Mentid sends to the internet

Once the app is loaded and installed, almost nothing. Specifically:

• Fonts. On first load, your browser fetches Inter, Fraunces and JetBrains Mono from Google Fonts. Google will see your IP address during that fetch. This is standard for almost every website on the web. The service worker then caches the fonts locally so after the first visit they are no longer fetched.
• App updates. When you open Mentid, the service worker checks with the host (Netlify) to see whether a newer version of the app code is available. Netlify receives a standard HTTP request — it does not receive your data.
• That's the full list. No pings, no beacons, no telemetry. Open your browser's DevTools → Network tab and confirm for yourself.

What the app does not do

• No Google Analytics. No Plausible, Fathom, Mixpanel, PostHog, Sentry, or any other analytics or error-reporting service.
• No ad networks. No tracking pixels. No fingerprinting.
• No cookies that identify you. (The app does use localStorage for your preferences — theme, reminder dismissals — but these are just settings, stored on your device, not sent anywhere.)
• No sharing with anyone. There is no "anonymous usage data", no "performance telemetry", no "crash reports". Nothing.

The "Context for AI" export

One feature deserves a direct explanation. In Your data, there is a button labelled Context for AI insight. It packages your recent entries, decisions, and closes into a text file on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere automatically. If you then choose to paste that file into Claude, ChatGPT, or another AI tool, you are sharing your data with whichever service you pasted into — that is a separate act, governed by their privacy policy, which you should read before pasting.

Deleting your data

You can erase everything at any time: Your data → Erase everything. This wipes the IndexedDB stores and resets the app. If you also set up auto-backup, delete the JSON file in your chosen folder yourself.

Uninstalling the app (removing it from your home screen + clearing browser data) also removes Mentid's local storage.

Children

Mentid is intended for personal reflection and is not designed for use by children under 13. It is free, offline-first, and has no mechanism for collecting information about anyone.

If this policy changes

If the app is ever updated in a way that changes how data is handled — adding optional cloud sync, for example — this page will be updated before the change ships. You can always see the current version in the date below.
